Miss Universe Philippines to Unveil the World’s First-Ever Beauty Pageant NFT Collection

0

Manila, Philippines (September 20, 2021) — The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 is making its mark as the latest brand and the first beauty pageant in the world to ride the NFT wave. The global beauty pageant has teamed up with RedFOX Labs, a Southeast Asian blockchain venture builder, to launch the Miss Universe Philippines NFT collection.

Available on September 24, 2021 on our NFT Platform, it provides an exciting opportunity for adoring fans to buy NFT collectibles of their favorite beauty queens. But this isn’t the first time a famous brand has entered the NFT space.

In fact, many luxury premium brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry are turning to NFTs to promote their lines. The fashion industry has been looking for ways to capitalize on the buzz surrounding NFTs. Louis Vuitton and several other fashion brands have launched their own NFTs.

For example, Gucci released its first official NFT in a short fashion film inspired by Aria’s collection. It is to celebrate Gucci’s 100th anniversary and the upcoming collaboration with Balenciaga.(link: https://www.esquiresg.com/nft-fashion-top-five-most-interesting/)

Burberry also collaborated with Mythical Games on an in-game clothing NFT collection by featuring a limited-edition Blanko toy called “Sharky B.” It is the first luxury brand to appear in the multiplayer party game Blankos Block Party.

Separately, Louis Vuitton initiated a mobile game where players can collect 30 free NFTs as they follow the brand’s mascot Vivienne to Paris for a birthday celebration. 10 NFTs were created in a partnership with Beeple, a digital artist whose digital collage sold for USD69.3 million. Moreover, the NFTs in the game are collectibles that cannot be sold.

Overpriced’s black hoodie is also part of the growing NFT one-of-a-kind asset trend. The black hoodie from Overpriced, embroidered with an expletive-laden logo in neon green graffiti font, was sold on the digital art marketplace, Blockparty, to an anonymous bidder who can now “wear” the garment in virtual settings online by scanning a code.(link: https://hypebeast.com/2021/3/rtfkt-studios-fewocious-sale-nfts)

Another implementation of NFTs in the fashion world is collaborating with top-selling NFT artists. The famous sneaker brand RTFKT collaborated with FEWOCiOUS, one of the rising young stars in the crypto universe. They created a series of three sneakers that were accompanied by digital merchandise. More than 600 pairs were sold, with the sneakers alone accounting for USD3.1 million in sales.

Winners may receive a physical copy of their sneakers, but the real value came from their limited-edition digital iterations.

The speculative market for one-of-a-kind NFTs has been booming. Blockchain NFTs are making inroads into high-fashion and premium lifestyle brands to reach new audiences, connect with customers, and grow their businesses.

Many luxury brands are taking on NFTs to create experiences for their consumers, similar to the Miss Universe Philippines NFT collection.

With that said, the one-of-a-kind Miss Universe Philippines NFT collection honors the beauty pageant’s essence of empowerment and grace.

This coincides with other premium luxury brands that seek to renew that essence and connect directly with the fanbase.

With this partnership between RedFox Labs and Miss Universe Philippines, we are able to unlock genuine value for the fanbase to interact with the brand in an environment that celebrates beauty, art, and empowerment. Miss Universe Philippines 2021 NFTs are available to purchase with RFOX tokens. They can be bought on Uniswap and MetaMask.

DOT HINIHIMOK PA ANG HIGIT NA APLIKASYON SA WTTC SAFE TRAVELS STAMP

0

Simula noong Marso 1, ang Department of Tourism (DOT) ay nagbukas ng aplikasyon para sa World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels Stamp sa lahat ng DOT-accredited accommodation establishments (AEs) at tourism destinations na bukas para sa lokal na turista.

“With uniform travel protocols expected to stimulate domestic travel, the need for more establishments for leisure will arise.  The DOT encourages all AEs not used as quarantine facilities and tourism destinations that have reopened to apply for the WTTC Safe Travels Stamp to be globally recognized as a fun and ‘Safe Travels’ facility and destination,” ani DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

“It should be noted that the Safe Travels stamp is based on self-assessment and is not a certification, thus, stamp holders shall ensure strict compliance with the Safe Travels Protocols Terms and Conditions at all times,” paglilinaw ni Puyat.

FAMAS Lifetime Achievement Awardees

JURY NOTE: The following awardees were nominated, deliberated and voted on by main section jurors Paolo Villaluna, Sari Lluch Dalena and Pepe Diokno. Director Carlos Siguion-Reyna abstained from said processes pertaining to the Lifetime Achievement Awards category.

The three recipients of the FAMAS Lifetime Achievement Awards are deserving storytellers who remind us that artists play critically important roles in society, including protesting injustice, fighting for freedom of expression, and rebelling against the paralyzing conventions of the status quo. These three changed the broad landscape of Philippine cinema forever, and are true cultural revolutionaries:

RICARDO “RICKY” LEE, Scriptwriting
ARMIDA SIGUION-REYNA, Industry Development
ROX LEE, Alternative Cinema

RICARDO “Ricky” LEE — LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDEE for SCRIPTWRITING

Ricky Lee gave birth to some of the greatest Filipino films ever written; Brutal (Abaya ’81), Salome (Guillen ’81), Cain at Abel (Brocka ’82), Relasyon (Bernal ’82), Himala (Bernal ’82), Moral (Abaya ’82), Karnal (Abaya ’83), Sinner or Saint (Chionglo ’84), Private Show (Rono ’85) Macho Dancer (Brocka ’88) Gumapang Ka Man Sa Lusak, (Brocka ‘90) The Flor Contemplacion Story (Lamangan ’95), Madrasta, (Lamasan ’96), Miguel/ Michelle, (Portes ’98), Jose Rizal, (Abaya ’98), Pusong Mamon, (Lamangan ’98) Burlesk King, (Chionglo ’99), Muro-Ami (Abaya ’99) and Anak (Quintos ’00). More than classics, these are films that became allegories of the Filipino’s continuing struggle for equality and freedom.

Apart from committing his words to the screen, he generously mentored thousands of new voices with his free scriptwriting workshops that began in 1982. The graduates of his workshops are a veritable who’s who in filmmaking and are changing the landscape of cinema themselves.

For his vital contribution to scriptwriting, and generous spirit in mentorship, FAMAS grants Ricky Lee a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.

ARMIDA SIGUION-REYNA — LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDEE for INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

A legendary producer and actress who starred in films such as “Dung-Aw” (which she also produced), “Tahan na Empoy, Tahan,” and “Bwakaw,” Armida Siguion-Reyna also founded Reynafilms, a production company that elevated local cinema back in the 1990s.

Her television work is iconic: she produced and hosted the country’s longest-running musical/cultural show “Aawitan Kita” (1970-2005), an important program that was instrumental in keeping alive the disappearing art of the kundiman for the new generation, and inspired the broad acceptance of Tagalog songs in television and the coming OPM movement.

A fierce advocate of freedom of expression and creative liberties in film, Armida’s greatest work and lasting legacy lie in her reformation of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) that had been notorious for ultra-conservative censorship practices before she headed the office. She led a board consisting of the industry’s most credible anti-censorship personalities, and her policy of protecting free expression resulted in the flourishing of independent voices during its time. Armida’s goal of self-regulation in film is still the standard guiding principle of the motion picture industry to this day.

For her important contributions to film and local culture, and determined resolve to fight censorship, the FAMAS grants Armida Siguion-Reyna a much-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.

ROX LEE — LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDEE for ALTERNATIVE CINEMA

The co-creator of the renowned comic-strip Cesar Asar, Rox Lee is an original voice and pioneering animator of the independent film industry. He is one of the founding members of Animahenasyon, the country’s largest group of animators.

Acclaimed internationally, his body of work—from the line drawing The Great Smoke to stop-motion live shorts like Juan Gapang—includes canonical works of the alternative movement and has influenced filmmakers of the new generation. Also a famed painter, his philosophical approach to cinema, with its irreverence, non-linearity, biting humor, and social consciousness, continues to inspire filmmakers and storytellers up to this day.

For his contribution to alternative cinema that continues to inspire uniqueness and originality in filmmaking, the FAMAS grants Rox Lee a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.

Thank you for joining us in this truly challenging year. But together, the film industry will rise.

MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES 2020 CROWN, NASUNGKIT NI MS. ILOILO

0

AND THE WINNER IS … Ms Iloilo!

So, how true na end of the road na ito sa pagiging Kapuso talents nina Jennylyn and Sunshine Dizon?

Nothing wrong with that. If they want to express their sentiments, why not? But of course, may consequences ‘yan. They should be prepared to be bashed or, sabi nga ni Arnell Ignacio, be prepared for the consequences nito sa inyong mga career.

“Gaano ba kabigat ang gusto mong ipaglaban to put your career sa line?

Is it necessary? Hindi ba kayo nanghihinayang sa careers ninyo?

Because whether you admit it or not, going against a still very popular president is an unwise move. You’ll definitely lose a substantial number of followers.

In denial pa rin VICE GANDA ‘DI TANGGAP ANG PAGKA-LAOS ‘NYA

0

find a way to reach out to your audience.

What goes up must go down.

First, ang objective ko nga is to make my audience happy. To make my followers happy.

(Throy Catan)

Takot maaresto JANE ‘DARNA’ DE LEON WA-JOIN SA NOISE BARRAGE NI ANGEL LOCSIN

0

Noong 2015, nag-back out si Angel for health reasons dahil sa kanyang  spine injury.

Oo nga naman any moment maaresto pa siya for violating pandemic protocols. (Archie Liao)

NEW YORKER ROMMEL RICO Paints for children with HIV

0

Some artists continue to create works of art despite the pandemic brought about by the Covid-19 virus.

This happened to Fil-Am based visual artist Rommel Rico  from New York City who returned recently to the country for a fund-raising one-man exhibit of his art works , but was   put on hold due to the pandemic.

Earlier, Rico had a successful one-man exhibit showcased at  Pfizer Headquarters lobby, 42nd St.,   New York.

He was highly acclaimed there by some aficionados and  art critics of New York for his brush works with distinct Mediterranean allure and  appeal of his diverse subjects: Caucasians or  Filipino women from his fabled hometown Sibuyan Island of Masbate  Province.

Keeping in mind the protocols of the pandemic, he emblazoned instead his painterly works on high quality T-shirts into fashionable and wearable  objects of art.

His customized designs were modeled by charitable-minded ladies from the corporate world namely, Carmie De Leon, VP for sales and marketing of  Healthway Medical; Candice Zialcita, founder of  Sauce and Source Business Solutions Studio, Inc.; Cathy Brillantes-Turvill, CEO of Nurture

Wellness Village; and  Joy Subalisid,  grand winner of Shawn Rhoden International Competition for body building.

The fundraising initiative is geared for the Duyan Project of the Project Red Ribbon Care

Management Foundation, Inc., one of   the country’s leading foundations for children with HIV who are misplaced in care centers for adults with the same affliction. (George Vail Kabristante)
