NASABAT ng pinagsanib na mga elemento ng pamahalaan ang 53 kilos ng pinatuyong seahorses mula sa tatlong Chinese nationals sa Terminal 2 ng Mactan Cebu International Airport kamakailan.
Batay sa report, nasabat ang kargamento noong Oktubre 8 ng mga kawani ng Bureau of Customs kasama ang mga kawani ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Transnational Aviation Support Services, Inc. (TASSI) and Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU) na palipad na sana papuntang Macau.
Alinsunod na rin ito sa isinagawang physical examination sa pangunguna ni Divina Arreglo, acting Customs Examiner, Passenger Service, kasama sina Ferdinand Laraga, ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service; Enrico Tamayo, Enforcement and Security Service, kinatawan mula sa TASSI at CTU at Alexander Montuya, Fishery Quarantine Officer, BFAR.
Ang dried seahorses ay kinumpiska dahil sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 8550 (The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998), Fisheries Administrative Order (FAO) No. 233 and Republic Act No. 10654 (An Act to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing).
Pansamantalang nasa kustodiya ng awtoridad partikular sa BFAR Region VII ang dried seahorses maging ang tatlong naarestong Chinese.
