Pinangunahan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang 48th meeting ng ASEAN Single Window (ASW) na dinaluhan ng mga kinatawan mula sa iba’t ibang bansa sa Asya na isinagawa sa Rizal Park Hotel, kamakailan.
Ang ASW ay isang regional initiative, na ang layunin ay magkaroon ng maayos na cross-border electronic exchange ng Customs documents sa pagitan ng ASEAN’s 10 member-states.
Pangunahing lumahok sa four-day meeting ay ang Technical Working Group (TWG) mula sa mga delegado ng ASEAN member-states, miyembro ng Philippine delegation mula sa iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno at kinatawan mula sa kinatawan ng USAID-Inclusive Growth sa ASEAN, Trade and E-Commerce.
Ayon kay BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, sinimulan na ng ahensya ang automation processes, gayundin ang enhancement ng cargo clearance examination, at pagpapalakas ng institutional and individual capabilities na may kaugnayan sa intelligence at enforcement bilang paghahanda sa paglahok ng ahensya sa ASW live operations ngayong taon.
“The enhancements required to resolve the end-to-end testing issues are about to be completed. Domestic preparations to meet the targets are also being done by BOC together with other agencies,” ayon kay Guerrero.
Ini-report din ng ahensya na patuloy silang nakikipag-ugnayan sa Department of Agriculture (DA) at Department of Health (DOH) para sa palitan ng karagdagang cross-border electronic trade documents na gagamitin sa ASW.
Handa na rin ang ahensya sa kanilang action plan na kung saan ay magsisilbi bilang framework ng BOC’s commitment and priorities.
“All these we will strive to put into action and we welcome all support and assistance for us to achieve our objective to be at par with our fellow member-states who are now part of or are ready to join the ASW live operation,” dagdag pa ni Guerrero. (Jo Calim)
