INANUNSYO ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang pagtanggap ng ‘hundred new primary inspectors’ na itatalaga sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at iba pang ports bago matapos ang taon.

Sinabi ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, ang kabuuang 100 new employees, na may item ng Immigration Officer 1, ay ini-appoint kamakailan ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra para mapunuan ang mga bakante sa bureau’s plantilla.

Ayong kay Morente, ang pagkakatalaga sa BI Officers ay makatutulong sa gradual reopening ng hangganan ng bansa sa mas maraming international travelers sa mga susunod na buwan.

“We thank Secretary Guevarra for these new appointments, we will be more prepared and are assured that sufficient manpower will be available in our ports to address the influx of passengers,” ani Morente.

Ayon naman kay BI Personnel Chief Grifton Medina, 94 sa newly-hired immigration officers ay may plantilla positions sa ilalim ng Immigration Regulation Division, habang ang anim ay sa ilalim ng Port Operations Division.

Sinabi ni Medina na ang 100 ay nakatakdang italaga sa sandaling isumite na nila ang kanilang required documents at matapos ang kanilang ‘extensive training on immigration laws, rules and procedures’.

Samantala, dahil sa pandemic, ang mga bagong empleyado ay magkakaroon ng pagsasanay sa pamamagitan ng virtual learning sessions sa halip na face-to-face, at stay-in classes sa BI’s training academy sa Clark, Pampanga.

Ayon pa kay Morente, ang bulto ng bagong BI inspectors ay nakatakdang italaga sa NAIA, ang pangunahing port ng bansa.

“We are hoping that our international flight operations will gradually return to normal before the year ends, following the government’s aggressive vaccine campaign. As the country begins to reopen its economy, perhaps so, too, will our borders reopen slowly,” dagdag pa ni Morente.

“Thus I have ordered that these new immigration officers be trained immediately so they can graduate in time for the normalization of our international travel operations,” pahayag pa ni Morente. (JOEL O. AMONGO)
