UMAASA ang ilang senador na hindi isasama ng Korte Suprema ang Senado sa posibleng pagpayag nito sa gag order na hiniling ng Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) kaugnay ng quo warranto na inihain nito laban sa ABS-CBN.
Nanawagan si Senador Panfilo Lacson sa Supreme Court na huwag sakupin ng gag order ang ginagawang pagtalakay ng Senado at ng mga komiteng hahawak sa kaso ng nasabing giant network hinggil sa hiling nitong pagpapalawig ng prangkisa.
“I hope the Supreme Court will not include the Senate or any of its committees in the gag order, if issued as petitioned by the Solicitor General, in deference to the settled jurisprudence that tackled similar issues in the past,” sabi pa ni Lacson.
“What may be covered, though, are the resource persons who will be invited to shed light on this instant case involving the franchise of ABS-CBN as they are not exempt from the sub judice rule, which covers litigants and witnesses, members of the bar and the public in general,” dagdag pa nito.
Aniya, maaaring maharap sa contempt of court ang mga iimbitahang bisita na maghahayag ng kanilang opinyon.
Sinabi naman ni Senador Grace Poe na itutuloy nito ang ipatatawag na pagdinig at wala itong nakikitang problema dahil naaayon ito sa mandato ng Konstitusyon. NOEL ABUEL
