STUNNING CATRIONA

Forecasters’ favorite, kumbaga.

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU

CATRIONA GRAY“May the 4th be with you,” halit ng mga well-wishers ni Gray. O dahil mayroon siyang very strong will to win. Pwede ring dahil magaling siyang magsalita at pwedeng-pwedeng spokesperson ng anumang advocacy of her choice. O dahil answered prayer at destiny talaga ang pagkapanalo niya.

Whatever it was that made her win, basta super-saya ang sambayanag Pilipino sa kanyang richly deserved victory at kuntodo celebration sa panibagong “pride of the Philippines” na ito.

For the record, si Catriona Gray ang ika-apat na Pinay na nag-uwi ng koronang Miss Universe, kasunod nina Pia Wurtzbach noong 2015, Margie Moran noong 1973, at Gloria Diaz noong 1969.

TRIVIA PA MORE

67 years old na ang Miss Universe beauty pageant ngayong 2018!

Contestants from 94 countries and territories participated in this year’s pageant, the highest number of participants ever, surpassing the previous record of 92 contestants in 2017.

Since the start of the Miss Universe pageant in 1952, the three winningest countries have been the Unites States with 8, Venezuela with 7, and Puerto Rico with 5.

First time sumali sa Miss Universe ngayong taon ang Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, at Mongolia.

FIRST TRANSGENDER CANDIDATE, ETC.

Miss Spain 2018 Ángela Ponce Camacho made history by being the first ever transgender woman to be allowed to join this prestigious pageant.

The first and only Miss Universe to be dethroned was Miss Russia in 2002.

Bumilang ng 63 years (from 1963 to 2016) ang France bago nagkaroon ng panibagong title holder, samantalang 56 years naman ang hinintayng Colombia (from 1958 to 2014) bago muling nasungkit ang korona. 48 years — yes, literal na 48 years! — ang waiting time ng Japan (from 1959 to 2007) bago muling nanalo sa patimpalak.
