TERNOCON 2018 MAY EXHIBIT TOUR BUKAS

Bukas, June 12 ay matutunghayan na ang pagbubukas ng Ternocon 2018 Exhibit tour sa SM Mall of Asia.

Ang Ternocon 2018 ay isang terno-making convention and contest para sa regional designers na inilunsad ng Cultural Center of the Philippines sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Cultural Exchange Department at Bench (Suyen Corporation). Nilalayon ng proyektong ito na maengganyo ang lahat na gamitin ang terno bilang formal dress, at magbigay ng inspirasyon sa bagong henerasyon ngayon ng Filipino designers na lumikha ng mga ternos na bahagi na ng ating kultura dahil ito rin ay ang pambansang kasuotan. Layunin din nito na hikayatin ang regional designers na lumikha na nalilinya rin sa obra ng senior fashion designers.

Noong May 8-10, 2018, ay nagkaroon ng mentoring at preparatory workshop ang idinaos sa CCP. Dito nagbigay ng kaalaman sina Project’s Artistic Director Gino Gonzales, Ternocon Chief Mentor Inno Sotto, regional mentors JC Buendia (Luzon), Cary Santiago (Visayas), at Len Cabili (Mindanao) kung saan nilahukan ito ng 30 participants.

Pinal na napili rito ang 28 designers at inasahang lumikha ng isang cocktail version ng isang Balintawak at isang formal evening terno bawat isa bilang kanilang entries sa nasabing competition.

Ang contest proper ay naganap sa CCP main theater noong November 11, 2018.

Curated by Gino Gonzales, the exhibit features thirty selections from over ninety ternos shown at the CCP last November 11, 2018.  Three sections represent the prevalent looks, namely: (1) the use of black, white or gray; (2) the use of jewel colors; and (3) the use of indigenous weaves or textiles. Cocktail versions of the ba­lintawak (country version of the terno that makes use of a kerchief called the alampay) and formal evening versions of the terno (a dress with butterfly sleeves) are mixed together.  The exhibit is also made possible with support from the Slim’s Fashion and Arts School, Steven Tan of SM-MOA, Natalya Lagdameo, Zarah Juan, CCP Production Design & Technical Services and the CCP Cultural Content Department.

Ang Ternocon 2018 Exhibit sa SM MOA ay mula June 12-19, 2019. Ang exhibit tour sa ibang regions ay magaganap sa pagitan ng July at November 2019 na kasalukuyan pang inoorganisa.
