SEA GAMES TORCH, SININDIHAN

SININDIHAN  sa Davao City ang  30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games torch na maglalakbay sa ilang pangunahing lungsod sa Pilipinas.

Pinangunahan nina national athletes Nesthy Petecio, Mikee Selga at Sydney Sy Tancontian ang ceremonial torch lightning sa SM Lanang at nilahukan ng 3,000 participants.

Naroon din sina Senator Bong Go, Davao Vice Mayor Baste Duterte, Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Director Jojit Alcazar, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Mike Dino, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioners Charles Maxey at Celia Kiram, at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Executive Board Member at Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) President Cynthia Carrion.

“Hope is most evident in the story of every athlete competing…we win stronger and bolder when we come together despite our many differences…we look beyond what sets us apart and celebrate what binds us together: our heart for sports and our heart for our region,” lahad ni Alcazar.

Dumalo rin Nestle Philippine vice president Lester Castillo bilang kinatawan ng MILO na tinaguriang gold sponsor ng 30th SEA Games na magsisimula sa Nobyembre 30.

Nagsimulang tumulong ang MILO sa SEA Games noong 1971. Ang ilan sa mga atleta na produkto ng MILO sports programs na maglalaro sa 30th SEA Games ay sina six-time MILO Marathon champion Mary Joy Tabal, 2010 MILO Little Olympics Most Outstanding Athlete Carlos Yulo at MILO Philippine Taekwondo Association gold medalist Pauline Lopez.

Pagkatapos ng Davao leg, ang torch ay pupunta sa Cebu bago dalhin sa Clark, Pampanga na isa sa apat na clusters kung saan naroon ang mga competition venues na gagamitin sa SEA Games.

Ang iba pang clusters ay Subic, Zambales; Metro Manila at Southern Luzon.

Ang 30th SEA Games ang pinakamalaki sa history ng kumpetisyon dahil sa meron itong 56 sports na lalahukan ng 9,840 atleta, 2,050 technical officials at 1,500  media personnel mula sa Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam at host Philippines.

Ang opening ceremony ay gagawin sa 50,000-seater Philippine Arena sa Bulacan samantalang ang closing ceremony ay gagawin naman sa world-class Athletic Stadium na nasa loob ng New Clark City Sports Complex na magsisilbing main hub sa Disyembre 11.
