ARMADONG GRUPO NAGKAMPO SA MASUNGI CONSERVATION SITE

KINONDENA sa mababang kapulungan ng Kongreso ang paglusob at pagkakampo ng mga armadong lalaki sa Masungi conservation site at maging ang kawalang aksyon umano ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

“We vehemently condemn the continued militarization of the Masungi’s Conservation site. We also condemn the continued inaction of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Philippine National Police (PNP),” ani House deputy minority leader France Castro.

“The protectors of our environment need protection from these armed men trying to privatize and destroy our forests and the wildlife. The area is continued to be conserved and reforested by the team of environmentalists under an agreement with the government to preserve and protect the critical area for the wildlife sanctuary,” ani Castro.

“Earlier this year, forest rangers were also injured after they were attacked. Attacks against environmentalists continue with little to no protection from our government. This must immediately stop. Government must ensure protection for environmentalists and forest rangers from armed goons in their attempt to invade our protected forests,” dagdag pa ni Castro.

(BERNARD TAGUINOD)
