SA pagnanais na makaiwas sa mataas na presyo ng mga bilihin sa mga lokal na pamilihang bayan, 10 flight attendants ng Philippine Airlines (PAL) ang nalagay sa balag ng alanganin matapos bumili at mag-uwi ng sibuyas mula sa Dubai at Saudi Arabia kung saan lumapag ang sinasakyang eroplano.
Sa kalatas ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), nabisto ang mga sibuyas na laman ng bagaheng bitbit ng mga PAL flight attendant sa isinagawang inspeksyon matapos lumapag ang kanilang eroplano sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) kamakailan.
Bukod sa sibuyas, bulilyaso rin ang mga iniuwing prutas mula sa gitnang-silangan ng Asya, matapos mabigo ang mga empleyado ng nasabing airline company na magprisinta ng import permit at clearance mula sa Bureau of Plant Industry.
“Further investigation is underway for the charges of Smuggling for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and Presidential Decree 1433 for Violation of Plant Quarantine Law by Customs and Bureau of Plant Industry against the 10 flight crew of Philippine Airlines,” saad ng kawanihan sa isang pahayag.
“The flight attendants also exhibited unruly behaviors by stomping/stepping and destroying/crushing the said products without permits in public view upon being informed of their violations.”
Samantala, tiniyak naman ng PAL na hindi nila kukunsintihin ang sinoman sa kanilang mga empleyadong lumabag sa mga umiiral na reglamento – partikular sa pagpasok ng mga kalakal at iba pang produkto mula sa ibang bansa.
Ayon kay PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna, nagkasa na rin ang PAL ng isang imbestigasyon sa hindi pinangalanang mga empleyado.
“Philippine Airlines does not condone any violation of customs regulations. We will impose the appropriate disciplinary sanctions subject to the results of the investigations. We are fully cooperating with the customs authorities on this matter. We reiterate to all our personnel the need to adhere strictly to customs regulations at all times,” ani Villaluna.
