TUMATAGINTING na P150 milyong halaga ng sibuyas ang kinumpiska ng mga operatiba ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa 24 na bodega sa Lungsod ng Maynila at Camanava sa Metro Manila.
Sa kalatas ng BOC, pinasok ng pinagsanib na pwersa ng mga operatiba mula sa Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP), Philippine National Police-Crime Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang 24 bodega sa bisa ng Letter of Authority (LOA) na pirmado ni Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio.
Bulilyaso ang sandamakmak na sibuyas, bawang at iba pang produktong agrikulturang agad na sinamsam, habang ikinandado naman ang mga bodegang pinaglalagakan ng suplay.
“We will be relentless in the fight against agricultural smuggling. Rest assured that the BOC is steadfast in patrolling our borders and protecting our local farmers against illicit traders of agricultural products,” ani Rubio. Samantala, hindi naman umano magtatagumpay ang pinakahuling serye ng operasyon kontra smugglers at hoarders sa Lungsod ng Malabon, Tondo, Binondo sa Maynila kung hindi na pagpupursige ni Rubio.

His understanding of the importance of acting swiftly on the information we receive on a daily basis led us to the discovery of hundreds of millions worth of smuggled agricultural products in just one day,” ayon kay Intelligence Group Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy. Nahaharap sa patong-patong na kasong paglabag sa Republic Act 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), at RA 10845 (Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act) ang mga may-ari ng bodega at mga nasamsam na produkto.
