WALANG bahid alinlangan ang Bureau of Customs (BOC) na muling malalampasan ng kawanihan ang itinakdang target collection para sa ikalawang sangkapat (quarter) ng kasalukuyang taon.
Ayon kay Atty. Vincent Philip Maronilla na tumatayong tagapagsalita ng ahensya, puntirya rin ng kawanihan ang tinawag niyang ‘internal quarterly target’ na karaniwang ikinakasa ng pamunuan ng BOC, matapos makapagtala ng higit pa sa itinakda sa unang tatlong buwan ng 2023.
“But as far as the target is concerned, our Commissioner together with our collectors are very confident that they will reach their respective targets,” sambit ng BOC spokesperson sa dinaluhang Laging Handa briefing kamakailan.
“So I hope we can reach our internal target so that we can deliver more collection for our country and for the proper operation of the fiscal situation of our government,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa ulat ni Maronilla, lumabis ng P16 bilyon ang nalikom na buwis at taripang kalakip ng mga pumasok at lumabas na kargamento kolekta ng BOC mula Enero hanggang Marso ng kasalukuyang taon.
Sa datos ng BOC Financial Service Office, pumalo sa P214 bilyon ang kabuuang halaga ang nakolekta ng ahensya – malayo sa quarterly collection target na P197 bilyon. Para kay Maronilla, isa sa mga dahilan sa likod ng masiglang koleksyon ang mahigpit na implementasyon ng mga umiiral na batas at reglamento sa larangan ng kalakalan.
“The leadership of the Bureau of Customs, our collectors are watching over the strict implementation of our taxation laws, that’s why we have been meeting our collection target for several years now,” paliwanag ng opisyal.
“And our target is not only to reach the target imposed on us by the government this year, but to exceed it because Commissioner (Bienvenido) Rubio and the staff of the Bureau of Customs realize and recognize the needs of our government in additional funds,” aniya pa.
