SA natitirang panahon sa pwesto ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, hiniling ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na sertipikahan bilang ‘urgent’ ang mga panukalang batas hinggil sa ‘Security of Tenure (SOT)’ at wakasan ang kontraktuwalisasyon sa bansa.
“I just signed the letter addressed to our President recommending the issuance of certification for the anti-endo bill (as urgent), pending before the Senate,” pahayag ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III sa Laging Handa briefing.
Ayon sa kalihim, handa na umanong pirmahan ni Duterte noon pa sanang 2019 ang panukalang batas makaraang pumasa sa Kongreso at Senado ngunit nauwi ito sa pag-veto nang magprotesta umano ang ilang labor groups.
“He is ready to sign the law but some labor groups have protested, they do not like the endo bill that was passed by Congress, on that basis our President vetoed it,” paliwanag ni Bello.
Sa kabila nito, inamin ni Bello na halos kapareho rin ang kasalukuyang mga bill na ipinapa-prayoridad niya sa pangulo maliban sa depinisyon kung ano ang maaaring ipakontrata ng employer.
“We will ask him (PRRD) to certify it. I’m confident that he will certify it. Hopefully, this will pass. Hopefully, no one will complain,” dagdag ni Bello. (RENE CRISOSTOMO)
