HINIMOK ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ang Indian pharmaceutical companies na magtayo ng operasyon sa bansa.
Sinabi ni Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez na iniimbitahan ang drug manufacturers sa India na magtayo ng manufacturing facilities sa bansa dahil isa ito sa pinakamalaking gumawa ng mga gamot sa buong mundo.
Ito umano ay upang maibsan ang paghihirap ng mamamayan sa patuloy na pagtaas ng gamot sa bansa.
“We just want them to produce here para mabawasan ang presyo … First, hindi na sila ma-subject sa tariff and other trade costs,” sabi pa ni Lopez.
Posible umanong magkaroon ng usapin sa pagnenegosyo sa Indian pharmaceutical companies sa pagtatayo ng manufacturing plants sa bansa.
Naniniwala rin si Health Undersecretary at Food and Drug Administration officer-in-charge Rolando Enrique Domingo na malaking tulong sa bansa ang posibilidad na pag-usbong ng negosyo ng India sa paggawa ng gamot.
“We have a very healthy trade relationship with India when it comes to medicine. Medicine consists of about 12% of all our imports from India or about $200 billion a year,” dagdag pa ni Domingo.
“With the Universal Health Care, the government and the PhilHealth will be a major procurer of services, drugs, and supplies … and we foresee that there’s a very bright future for more drugs coming into the Philippines, especially coming from India,” ayon pa sa Health official.
