MATAPOS ang mahigit isang buwang bakasyon, balik-trabaho ngayong Lunes, Mayo 8, ang dalawang kapulungan ng Kongreso.
Kasabay nito, inanunsyo ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na dinagdagan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ang priority bills na kailangang ipasa ng Kongreso kasama na ang Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF).
“President Marcos approved eleven bills designed to address key issues on public health, job creation, and further stimulate economic growth as part of his administration’s priority legislation (LEDAC). These measures will be the focus of our legislative efforts when Congress resumes session this Monday,” ani Romualdez.
Nakapasa na sa Kamara ang nasabing panukala subalit hindi pa naipapasa ng Senado ang kanilang countermeasures kaya isinama na ito sa 11 priority bills na inirekomenda ni Marcos.
Dahil dito, mula sa orihinal na 31 priority bills ng Marcos administration, umakyat na ito sa 42 na ayon kay Romualdez ay bibigyan nila ng prayoridad.
Kasama sa 11 bagong priority billes ang AFP Fixed Term Bill, Ease of Paying Taxes, Local Government Unit Income Classification, pag-amyenda sa Universal Health Care Act, Bureau of Immigration Modernization, Infrastructure Development Plan/Build Build BuildProgram, Philippine Salt Industry Development Act, Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS), National Employment Action Plan at pag-amyenda sa Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act.
“It will be on a best-effort basis. We will try to pass the remaining eight bills from the original priority list. If we could do that, we would have approved all the urgent measures identified by President Marcos in less than a year,” ayon pa sa lider ng Kamara.
Sa unang 31 priority bills, dalawa na ang naging batas na kinabibilangan ng SIM (subscriber identify module) Registration Act at pagpapaliban sa Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan election sa Oktubre 30. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
