TINAWAG ng isang dating mambabatas sa Kamara na mga ‘fence sitter’ noong mga panahong kandidato pa lang si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ang ilang pumapapel at pilit sumisira ngayon kay Atty. Vic Rodriguez.
“Many who are calling for Atty. Vic ouster were the fence sitters to BBMs candidacy,” ani dating Congressman Mike Defensor patungkol sa mga tao sa Malacañang na lihim na kumakalaban kay dating Executive Secretary at ngayo’y Presidential chief of staff Rodriguez.
Ayon kay Defensor, hindi matatawaran ang loyalty ni Rodriguez kay Pangulong Marcos Jr. dahil hindi niya ito iniwan sa lahat ng pagsubok na dinaanan bago ito naging Pangulo.
“Vic has always been a loyal friend and follower of PBBM. During the 2016 elections he campaigned vigorously for then VP candidate BBM. After the elections when BBM lost the Vice Presidential fight, Atty. Vic stood by BBM as he protested the results of the elections,” ani Defensor.
“Even during the skirmishes in Congress, when no one dared to be identified with BBM, Vic persistently stood by BBMs side. No one believed him but he carried on,” dagdag pa ng dating mambabatas.
Noong panahon din aniya ng presidential fight, si Rodriguez kasama ang kanyang buong team ang nagtrabaho para magkaroon ng partido si Marcos.
“Again, many thought it was a losing proposition as how can BBM win when he just lost the Vice Presidency? When everyone else waited in the sidelines for Inday Sara to declare as President, ES Vic uncompromisingly pushed BBMs Presidential fight,” pahayag pa ni Defensor.
Nabanggit din ng mambabatas na mismong si Rodriguez ang pumigil sa Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) na mag-angkat ng sobra-sobrang asukal kaya hindi natuloy ang 300,000 metric tons na gustong angkatin ng ahensya.
“If he only wanted money, a 5 peso a kilo signing bonus would have rewarded him P1.5B with a 300,000 ton quota,” dugtong pa nito.
Gayunpaman, hindi aniya ito ginawa ni Rodriguez dahil nais nitong magkaroon ng maayos na gobyerno.
“His only fault is that he cannot accommodate everyone’s appointment to the new administration thus the rejection of those with self serving interests,” pahayag pa ni Defensor. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
