PAG-BAN SA VAPE, HINAY-HINAY LANG – SOLON

PINAGHIHINAY ng isang mambabatas sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang gobyerno sa pagba-ban sa vape o e-cigarette products dahil wala pa umanong matibay na ebidensya na nagdudulot ito ng sakit sa lalamunan.

Ginawa ni Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers matapos iutos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na i-ban nang tuluyan ang vape na ginawang alternatibo sa sigarilyo, matapos magkasakit umano ang isang dalagita sa Cebu.

“While I understand our health authorities, their position however is more of a knee-jerk reaction, without the proper information.  It is very much like convicting a person of an offense with a single circumstantial evidence against him,” ani Barbers.

Ayon sa mambabatas, may mga pag-aaral sa ibang bansa tulad ng United Kingdom na ang vape ay mas ligtas kesa sa sigarilyo na pumapatay ng milyong-milyon katao sa buong mundo.

“They even found out that there is a steep decline in the number of tobacco smokers who instead switched to vaping and e-cigarettes,” dagdag pa ng kongresista kaya hindi dapat aniyang ura-urada ang pagbaban dito.

“It has been proven conclusively that tobacco is harmful.  Yet no government in the world has banned it, even as it has cost governments billions of dollars in resources trying to treat the affected people,” ayon pa kay Barbers.

BUWIS SA VAPE TANGGALIN NA

Samantala, aalisin na rin ang probisyon sa Republic Act 11346 o sin tax law na nagpapataw nagpapataw ng buwis sa vape.

Ito ang kinumpirma ni House committee on ways and means chairman Joey Salceda matapos iban ni Duterte ang vape na isa sa mga pinapatawan ng buwis matapos mauso ito sa bansa.

Sinabi ni Salceda na hindi maaaring mag-ban ang isang batas sa pagbubuwis kaya upang masunod ang pagba-ban ni Duterte sa nasabing bisyo ay aalisan na rin ito ng buwis.
