IGINIIT ni Senador Pia Cayetano na panahon nang obligahin ang lahat ng tanggapan ng pamahalaan sa buong bansa na maglagay ng sarili nitong closed circuit television (CCTV).

“Public office is a public trust, and therefore should be transparent and accountable to the people at all times'” aniya.

Sa inihain nitong Senate Bill no. 503 o ‘Surveillance Camera for Government Establishments Act’, layon nito na mabantayan ang lahat ng kilos at galaw ng mga tauhan ng pamahalaan sa bawat transaksyon nito.

Idinagdag pa ng senador na malaki rin umano ang maitutulong ng CCTV para maiwasang masangkot sa korapsyon ang isang opisyal ng pamahalaan.

Patunay rin aniya ito sa pangako ng pamahalaan na abutin ang Goal 16 ng United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) na magpapatupad ng epektibong pagbibigay nang maayos at magandang serbisyo ng lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan.

“Ridding our institutions of corruption means  better quality social services, which would help the country achieve all SDGs by 2030,” sabi ni Cayetano.

“The use of video records shall only be allowed in specific instances where they are needed: for the investigation or prosecution of a punishable offense; for a pending criminal or civil proceeding; for the avoidance of an imminent threat to persons or property; or to ascertain the identity of a criminal perpetrator,” dagdag pa ng senadora.
