NAIS ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon na magpaliwanag ang Board of Pardons and Parole sa kanilang computation sa sentensya kay dating Calauan mayor Antonio Sanchez na sangkot sa kasong panggagahasa at pagpatay.
Sinabi ni Drilon na maghahain siya ng resolusyon upang busisiin ang komputasyon ng BPP at ang tunay na dahilan ng rekomendasyon na mapalaya ang dating alkalde.
“Ako po ang Secretary of Justice na nagpa-convict kay Mayor Sanchez – 7 lives term po iyan. Ang sentensya niyan ay 40 years. Nagulat po ako noong sinabi nila na dahilan sa good conduct allowance ay pwede nang palayin. Ako po ay magpa-flile ng resolution sa Senado para imbestigahan ang Board of Pardons and Parole (BPP) sa kanilang computation,” diin ni Drilon.
“Dahilan sa ang balita ay involved siya sa drug trade sa Muntinlupa. Paano naman nagkaroon siya ng allowance for conduct of good behavior? Ang balita pa natin ay mayroon siyang aircon sa kanyang kulungan. Paano naman naging good conduct ito?” dagdag pa ng senador.
Aminado ang senador na nakasaad sa batas ang probisyon ng good behavior subalit ang tanong ay kung tama ang pagpapatupad sa batas.
Naniniwala naman si Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson na hindi pa pinal ang parole na ibibigay kay Sanchez dahil hindi pa ito naaprubahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kasabay ng paggiit na dapat nang amyendahan ang RA 10592 o Revised Penal Code.
“Hindi pa final ang parole until the President signs or approves it. If the victims’ families intend to appeal, they should address the same to the President,” saad ni Lacson.
“I would say, aside from legislating a maximum of only 15% reduction for Good Conduct Time while in prison, there must be offenses that should not make the convicts avail of parole or pardon such as those committed with extreme gruesomeness like terrorism, rape with homicide, and the like,” diin pa ng senador.
Kinuwestyon din ni Senador Risa Hontiveros ang sinasabing good conduct ni Sanchez gayung hindi anya ito nagpakita ng pagsisisi sa kanyang nagawang krimen.
“Sanchez has shown no signs of remorse and displayed no effort at improving himself in behavior or character inside the penitentiary. In fact, even inside prison, he has continued committing crimes with impunity,” diin ni Hontiveros.
