IGINIIT ni Rizal 2nd District Congressman Fidel Nograles sa Civil Service Commission (CSC) na ituloy ang pagsasagawa ng online exam para sa eligibility examinations upang mabigyan ng trabaho sa gobyerno ang mga nawalan ng hanapbuhay dahil sa pandemya sa COVID-19.

“I hope the sense of urgency is not lost on the CSC. Napakaraming bakanteng posisyon sa pamahalaan na maaari sanang ibigay sa mga nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa pandemya,” ani Nograles.

Base aniya sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM), sa 1,862,543 permanent positions sa gobyerno, 177,874 ang hindi pa nilalagyan ng tao na kinabibilangan ng civilan at military uniformed personnel.

“Yet, the examination, which is a requirement for appointment to government, has yet to be held this year after the CSC suspended last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic the first of 2 tests held annually,” ani Nograles.

Mula noong Marso ay sinuspinde ng CSC ang eligibility examinations dahil sa COVID-19 kung saan 293,000 examinees sa 66 lokasyon sa bansa ang naapektuhan at noong Hunyo ay inihayag ng ahensya na hindi na ito magpapa-exam ngayong taon.

“Nananawagan tayo sa CSC—madaliin po sana natin ang paghanap ng solusyon sa gusot na ito. Let’s not be an obstacle to the desire of our kababayan to find meaningful work in government,” dagdag pa ng bagitong mambabatas.

Sinabi ni Nograles na hindi dapat idahilan ang COVID-19 pandemic para ipagpaliban hanggang susunod na taon ang pagsusulit na ito at sa halip ay dapat maghanap ng paraan ang CSC para ituloy ito.

“So many of our government offices have shifted online. Our courts have online hearings, and so does Congress. We have so many brilliant men and women in government, and we could have even enlisted the help of the academe and private sector, to come up with a workable system to hold the exams online,” dagdag pa ng Harvard-trained lawyer.

Hindi aniya dapat umasa ang CSC at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno na babalik na sa normal na buhay ang Pilipinas sa 2021 kaya dapat gumawa aniya ang mga ito ng paraan upang hindi madiskaril ang kanilang serbisyo sa mga tao.

“The pandemic has caused a paradigm shift, and government should be the first to adapt to the seismic changes or it risks derailing the country’s own recovery efforts,” dagdag pa nito. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
