DOH-MMCHD conducts Regional Hospital Rounds in Preparation for Holiday Season

In anticipation of the holiday season, the Department of Health – Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) conducted hospital rounds in the National Capital Region on December 17, 2024. The rounds occurred at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila, Las Piñas General Hospital, and Satellite Trauma Center.

Led by DOH-MMCHD Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay together with other officials, the rounds focused on highlighting hospitals’ preparedness and response in providing emergency medical services and trauma care for road traffic injuries and fireworks-related injuries (FWRI), and other forms of trauma cases during the holiday season.

“We recognize the importance of ensuring that our hospitals are well-equipped and our healthcare personnel are ready to provide immediate and quality care during the holiday season,” said Director Magpantay. “With the expected increase in patient volume, it is crucial that we take proactive steps to guarantee that we can respond efficiently to any medical needs that arise.”

The DOH-MMCHD officials conducted thorough checks of the hospital’s emergency department, outpatient, and burn units during the rounds. They also discussed contingency plans with hospital management, ensuring that sufficient medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, are on standby throughout the holiday period.

The hospital rounds are part of a broader initiative by the DOH to ensure the readiness of healthcare facilities, particularly the hospitals, during peak seasons.

Addressing these public health events during the holiday celebration requires a whole-of-government-approach, hence other stakeholders such as the Bureau of Fire Protection-NCR (BFP-NCR), the Department of Interior and Local Government – NCR (DILG-NCR), and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Local Government Units were also invited to join the hospital rounds and were enjoined to support the Ligtas Christmas Campaign.

This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone, dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.
