NAGNINGNING si Nicola Queen Diamante at Andreana Isabel Mirandilla bilang top performer sa girls division sa 2nd Reunion Swim Challenge nitong Linggo sa Teofilo Yldefonso Olympic-sized pool sa loob ng makasaysayang Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) sa Malate, Manila.
Nasungkit ni Diamante, 11-taong gulang, ng RSS Dolphins ang gintong medalya sa Class A 100-m butterfly sa oras na 1:21.30; 100-m bacstroke (1:24.70); 100-m freestyle (1:11.00) at ang 200-m back (3:04.90).
Nadomina naman ni Mirandilla ng Sta. Rosa Laguna Swim team ang girls 9-years 50-meter backstroke (Class B) sa oras na 53.50 segundo; 100-m backstroke (Class C) sa 2:07.60 at 100-m freestyle (Class C) sa torneo na inorganisa ng Congress of Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (COPA) na pinamumunuan ni Batangas 1st District Congressman at swimming icon Eric Buhain.
“We’re very happy and proud as once again COPA delivered on our promise to give our homegrown swimmers a venue where they can show their talents and the opportunity for them to grow and develop not just their skills but character as well,” ani Buhain.
Iginawad ni Tournament Director Richard Luna at COPA Treasurer Chito Rivera ang mga medalya at sertipiko sa lahat ng mga nanalo at kalahok sa two-day event na itinataguyod ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at MILO.
Sinabi ni Rivera na ang mga manlalangoy na nabigong manalo ng mga medalya ay may pagkakataong higit na maging mahusay sa susunod na kaganapan ng COPA na 1st Novice Swim Championship na itinakda sa Setyembre 17-18.
Bukod sa Novice Swim Championship, itinala ng COPA ang Reunion 3rd leg sa Oktubre 1-2; Reunion Swim Challenge Championship sa Oktubre 22-23; Sprint meet ng SKINS Swim event (Nob. 12-13); at Short Course Yuletide Swimming Championship (Dis. 10-11). (DENNIS IÑIGO)
