“I would rather break the addiction now before it breaks lives,” pahayag ni PNP-Zambales Provincial Director Romano V. Cardiño makaraan ang matagumpay na pagsalakay ng kanyang mga tauhan sa illegal cockfighting sa lalawigan.
Noong Linggo, Hunyo 4, 2021, dakong alas-4:00 ng hapon, sa Purok 6, Brgy. San Esteban, San Antonio, Zambales, sa pamamagitan ng informant, nagsagawa ang mga operatiba ng PNP-Zambales Team San Antonio MPS, sa pangunguna ni P/Lt. Mark B. Almero, OIC, COP, ng intensive surveillance operations laban sa pagkalat ng tupada sa lalawigan.
Inatasan ni Cardiño ang mga operatiba ng San Antonio MPS, sa pangunguna ni P/Lt. Almero, kasama ng mga operatiba ng RMFB 3, 305th Maneuver Company, 2nd Platoon upang madakip ang mga mananaya at organizer ng tupada sa nasabing lugar.
Ang nasabing operasyon ay nagresulta sa pagkakadakip sa mga suspek na sina Ronald Reusia y Rabe, tricycle driver; Webster Ragasa y Ladringan, jobless; George Guiang y Guerrero, tricycle driver; Juan Cipriano y Raquel, tricycle driver, at Teodoro Odal y Navarette, jobless.
Ang mga arestado ay naaktuhan sa isinasagawang tupada sa Purok 6, Brgy. San Esteban, San Antonio, Zambales makaraang isumbong ng isang civilian informant.
Dagdag ni Cardiño, “We have been steadfast in implementing the protocols of social distancing. That is why the presence of these illegal cockfighting arenas have been very disturbing so we must put a stop to this at this tumultuous time as it poses a threat to the spread of the COVID-19 virus not to mention the detriment it gives to the moral side of the story.”
