HINDI dapat minamadali at dapat na masusing nirerebisa ang panawagan na ideklara bilang persona non grata kay Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian.

Sinabi ni Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza na bagama’t may mga panawagan na ideklarang persona non grata ang Chinese envoy to Manila, kailangan pa rin na masusi itong pag-aralan at rebisahin kung ang naging aksyon nito ay may merito para sa naturang deklarasyon.

“When an ambassador assumes, he is accepted by the accrediting host government. If you do something or say something that is unwelcome then you can be subject of what they call persona non grata but with this case, I think it’s something that will have to be seriously considered whether the incidents or the series of incidents merit having him be a persona non grata,” ayon kay Daza.

“Idid not say that we’re considering it, I said that it is something to be considered whether it merits to have an ambassador be considered a PNG,” diing pahayag ni Daza.

Nabanggit ang nasabing usapin kasunod ng twin incidents sa West Philippine Sea nito lamang weekend, kung saan inatake ng water cannon ng coast guard at maritime militia ng China ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) vessels.

Paliwanag pa ni Daza, kapag idineklara ang isang tao bilang persona non grata, “that is at a certain level already and they are both intended and unintended consequences and that’s the reason why a serious consideration should actually be undertaken.”

Agosto ngayong taon, idineklara si Huang bilang persona non grata ng Sangguniang Bayan (SB) ng munisipalidad ng Kalayaan sa Palawan matapos nitong idepensa ang harassment ng China Coast Guard (CCG) laban sa Philippine vessels sa West Philippine Sea sa kahalintulad na buwan.
