NIREKOMENDA ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang pagkansela sa Asean Paragames na gaganapin sa Marso 21 hanggang 27 dahil sa novel corona virus (nCov).

Ito ang inanunsiyo ni PSC chairman William Ramirez sa press conference kahapon sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum kasunod ang emergency board meeting nila noong Miyerkoles.

Nauna nang inurong ang schedule ng 10th Asean Paragames sa Marso, mula sa orihinal na Enero 18 hanggang 25, dahil sa kakulangan ng pondo at logistical considerations.

Ngunit ang PSC ay organizing committee lamang at ang pinal na desisyon ay nasa Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC) pa rin, ayon kay Ramirez.

Kaugnay nito, nakatakdang makipagkita si PPC president Mike Barredo sa Asean Paralympic Sports Federation (APSF) officials sa Bangkok para malaman ang posisyon nito hinggil sa rekomendasyon ng PSC.

“This is a health issue that is really difficult to determine exactly if it gets worse or get better. As chairman mentioned, we have been advised by the PSC board to consider the possibility of postponing the Games because of the situation,” wika ni Barredo.

“We are going to consult with the federation and our counterparts in Southeast Asia,” dagdag niya.
