NAPUNTA sa pork barrel ang P20 billion na tinanggal ng Kongreso sa ilalim ng liderato ni House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco sa pension and gratuity funds ng mga retiradong sundalo, pulis at iba pang uniformed personnel ng gobyerno.

Ginawa ni Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor ang pahayag matapos sabihin ni House appropriation committee chairman Rep. Eric Yap na ginamit sa COVID-19 vaccine procurement ang tinanggal na pondo.

“To set the record straight, the vaccine procurement fund approved by Congress, as recommended by the bicameral conference committee (bicam) and carried in the 2021 budget, was P2.5 billion, which is good for just a few thousand doses and which was the amount recommended by the executive branch at the beginning of the pandemic,” ani Defensor.

Sa ilalim ng 2021 national budget, naglaan ng P72.5 billion para pambili ng bakuna laban sa COVID-19 subalit P2.5 billion lamang ang nakaprograma habang ang natitirang P70 billion ay uutangin.

Labis na ipinagtaka ng mambabatas na habang tinanggalan ng P20 billion ang pension and gratuity funds ay dinagdagan naman ng P32 billion ang budget ng Department of Public Works and Highways.

“The huge amount of realignments, including the P20 billion for military and police retirees, went to “pork” and other things, but not vaccine,” ayon pa kay Defensor kahapon.

Ito ay dahil dinagdagan ng P32 billion ang budget ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) kung saan ilang mambabatas na kaalyado ni Velasco ang nagkaroon ng karagdagang pondo.

Isiniwalat din ni Defensor na binawasan ng liderato ni Velasco ang pondo ng district congressmen tulad nina Reps. LRay Villafuerte, Christan Unaba, Eddiebong Plaza, Lawrence Fortun, Joseph Lara, Glona Labadlaban, Braeden John Biron, Romeo Jalosjos Jr., Fredinil Castro, Neptali Gonzales II, Rodrigo Abellanosa, Sherlyn Nograles-Banas, Manny Lopez, Roberto Puno, dating Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano at Edgar Erice.

May pasaring si Defensor na ilan naman sa mga mambabatas na dikit kay Velasco ang nagkaroon ng dagdag na pondo sa kanilang distrito subalit hindi na ito nagbigay ng pangalan.

Noong Lunes ay isiniwalat ni Defensor na mula sa P172.9 billion na pension at gratuity funds ng mga retiradong militar, pulis at iba pang uniformed personnel ay P152 billion lamang ang inaprubahan ng liderato ni Velasco.
