PANGUNGUNAHAN nina dating retired Chief Justices Artemio Panganiban at Reynato Puno ang bagong tatag na DOE advisory panel na naglalayong magbigay ng rekomendasyon hinggil sa “reform initiatives at legal matters” ng departamento.

Nilikha kasi ni Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla ang advisory panel on law and energy.

“Retired Chief Justice Panganiban and Retired Chief Justice Puno have kindly agreed to be the co-chairs of the DOE’s (Department of Energy) Law and Energy Advisory Panel,” ayon kay Lotilla, “They will serve as private citizens and will not assume any public office,” patuloy nito.

Ayon sa departamento, ang panukalang paunang talakayan ay sesentro sa legal na usapin na may kinalaman sa gas at oil sector ng bansa kabilang na ang Malampaya-Camago project na kinokonsidera bilang “biggest gas-to-power initiative” sa ngayon ng Pilipinas.

“The advisory panel is also expected to give suggestions on the objectives, content, and overall substance of the energy sector’s legislative agenda covering alternative and new technologies,” ayon sa DoE.

“Enhancing the department’s legal processes with the welfare of the Filipino people in mind is likewise part of the group’s functions,” ayon sa departamento.

“The Advisory Panel or its members may also assist the DOE in communicating any aspects of the DOE’s legal or policy initiatives which have been the subject of their advice,” pahayag ni Lotilla. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
