KUNG si Senate President Vicente Sotto III ang tatanungin ay nais nitong sa buwan na ng Setyembre magsimula ang pagbubukas ng klase sa mga pampubliko at pribadong eskuwelahan.

Ayon sa lider ng Senado, base sa Republic Act 7977 o ang “Act to lengthen the school calendar from 200 days to not more than 220 days”, ang pagbubukas ng klase kada taon ay tuwing unang Lunes ng buwan ng Hunyo at hindi lalagpas sa huling araw ng Agosto.

“Noting that the June opening is just a month away, there is a need to delay this year’s school opening because of the continued threat of the coronavirus (COVID-19) to the country,” ayon kay Sotto.

Sa inihain nitong Senate Bill No. 1438, binibigyan ang Department of Education (DepEd) ng mas mahabang oras at oportunidad para maghanda sa darating na new normal sa edukasyon.

“The approved recommendation of the IATF-EID runs counter to the law… To remedy the situation created by COVID-19 and consequently allow the execution of the IATF-EID recommendation, this measure is being proposed,” ayon pa kay Sotto. NOEL ABUEL
