IDUDULOG ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. kay Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade ang panukala ni Samar Representative Edgar Sarmiento na maglagay ng marshals sa mga Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) upang masiguro na sumusunod ang mga pasahero sa COVID-19 protocols.

“Well, we will discuss this with the DOTR Secretary Tugade. As I have said before, even with the Public Utility Vehicles, we have the manpower to assist DOTr,” ayon kay Abalos sa virtual press briefing ni Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Hindi naman lingid sa kaalaman ni Abalos na ngayong limitado ang mga pampublikong sasakyan ay hindi naiiwasan ang magsiksikan.

Kaya inaasahan na aniya niya na mayroong magmumungkahi na magtalaga ng ‘transportation marshals’ para magbantay sa mga PUVs.

Samantala, tiniyak naman ni Sec. Roque na mayroon ng mga marshals sa mga train stations partikular na sa MRT-3 trains para ipatupad ang minimum health standards.

Ang mga traffic enforcers at mga kapulisan aniya ay umaakto rin bilang marshals para sa pampublikong transportasyon.

“Dahil sila po ang nagpapatupad ng mga local ordinances on minimum health standards. So ang rekomendasyon po is well taken, but we already have actually marshals in trains and law enforcers who act as marshals as well as LTO officials and iyong LTFRB officials who are in fact in our streets ensuring minimum health standards,” ayon kay Sec.
