MULING pinuna ni Senador Grace Poe ang mabagal na rollout para sa service contracting program sa transport workers.

Sinabi ni Poe na dahil sa mabagal na rollout, maraming mga driver ng public utility vehicle at transport sector workers ang hindi nabibigyan ng tamang kita sa gitna ng pandemic.

Sa datos, simula nang umpisahan ang programa noong Sept. 11, 2020, nasa P461.8 milyon pa lamang ng P5.58 bilyong pondo sa ilalim Bayanihan 2 ang naipamamahagi.

Iginiit ni Poe na dahil magtatapos ang availability ng pondo sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2 sa June 30, dapat nang tapusin ang pamamahagi nito sa loob ng isang buwan.

“Unless the availability of the fund is extended, the billions of pesos, which could have eased the woes of our drivers without income, will just return to the government coffers,” diin ni Poe.

“We must not allow the bulk of the billion-peso fund to remain unspent while thousands of transport workers struggle to make ends meet, with some even forced to beg to feed their families,” dagdag pa nito. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
