SINABI ng Malakanyang na lalagdaan bukas, Disyembre 30, ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang panukalang P5.024-trillion budget sa 2022 para maging ganap na batas.
“We expect the President to sign the budget tomorrow. It is what it is in the schedule,” ayon kay acting presidential spokesperson at Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

Ang paglagda sana sa budget measure ay nauna nang itinakda noong Martes subalit sinabi ni Nograles na patuloy pa rin nirerebisa ang national budget kaya’t hindi natuloy ang paglagda ng Pangulo.

Aniya, ang panukalang budget ay gagamitin para pondohan ang pagtulong sa mga biktima ng bagyong Odette.

“With a new budget, with the fresh sourcing of funds from the NDRRM (National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) funds, the fresh sourcing of funds from the 2022 GAA, plus fresh QRF (Quick Response Fund), we will be able to address the need for construction materials of our countrymen worst-hit by Typhoon Odette,” anito.

Kapwa niratipikahan ng Senado at Kongreso noong Disyembre 15, ang budget bill ay naglalaman ng COVID-19-related allocations, kabilang na ang P50 bilyong piso para sa Special Risk Allowances ng medical frontliners at isa pang P50 bilyon para naman sa booster shots.

Mayroon ding alokasyon para sa COVID-19 Laboratory Network Commodities, Department of Health epidemiology and surveillance program; pagbili ng gamot, medisina at bakuna na aaprubahan ng Food and Drug Administration, at Health Facilities Enhancement Program ng DOH. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
