UMABOT 40 matataas na kalibre ng baril ang isinuko sa pamunuan ng 601st Infantry (Unifier) Brigade sa Brgy. Kamasi, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur nitong Linggo.

Mismong si Brig. Gen. Edgar L. Catu, commander ng 601st Brigade, ang nagpresinta ng nasabing mga kagamitang pandigma kina Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, commander ng Western Mindanao Command at Maj. Gen. Donald M. Gumiran, commander ng 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division.

Kabilang sa isinukong mga armas ang mga sumusunod: pitong M14 7.62mm rifle, anim na M16 5.56mm rifle, limang Garand Cal. 30 rifle, dalawang Ultimax 5.56mm rifle, dalawang Bushmaster 5.56mm rifle, dalawang Carbine 5.56mm M4 rifle, at dalawang improvised M79. Samantala, may tig-iisang isinukong improvised Garand Cal. 30 rifle, Carbine, Carbine Sniper Rifle, improvised Carbine Rifle, M4 5.56mm rifle, M653 5.56mm rifle, HMG Cal. 50 Barret (2 regular at 1 improvised), 57RR, 60mm Mortar, M203 Grenade Launcher, SMG Uzi, at improvised 12-Gauge Shotgun.
Dumalo sa aktibidad at pormal na nagpresenta sa isinukong mga baril ang mga alkalde na kinabibilangan nina Mayor Edris Sindatok ng Datu Saudi Ampatuan; Mayor Akmad “Mitra” Ampatuan ng Shariff Aguak; Mayor Akmad “Butch” Ampatuan Jr., ng Mamasapano; Mayor Allandatu Angas ng Sultan sa Barongis; Hon. Baileah Sangki ng Ampatuan, at Mayor Suharto Al Wali S. Mangudadatu ng Datu Abdullah Sangki.

Ikinagalak naman ni Brig. Gen. Catu ang positibong tugon ng mga LGU sa kampanya ng pamahalaan na sugpuin ang loose firearms. Naniniwala siya na hindi lamang ito symbolic gesture bagkus ay commitment ng bawat isa sa pagtaguyod ng kapayapaan.

Sa isinagawang press conference, iginiit naman ni Maj. Gen. Gumiran na tuloy-tuloy ang gagawin nilang kampanya upang mabawasan ang loose firearms sa kamay ng mga taong hindi awtorisadong may hawak nito. Aniya pa, naging epektibo ang nasabing programa sa pagsawata ng mga krimen sa tulong ng Small Arms and Light Weapons management program. “I would like to commend the relentless efforts of the 601st Brigade under Brig. Gen. Catu for leading these initiatives. Your commitment has not only created opportunities for former violent extremists to choose the path of peace and reintegration, but it has also helped shape a safer, more secured environment.” pahayag pa ni Maj. Gen. Gumiran.

Nagpahayag din ng kanyang suporta si Lt. Gen. Nafarrete at binigyang importansya ang pagsugpo sa aniya ay kagamitan sa karahasan. “Once these firearms were tools of conflict. Now, they sit quietly before us. They are symbols of a challenging past. A time of splitting, fear and agony. Their surrender does not symbolize that they have been defeated. It is a symbol of courage, wisdom, a great step towards healing and moving forward. May this important activity be the foundation of a lasting peace,” mensahe naman ni Lt. Gen. Nafarrete.
