OPISYAL na kinumpirma ng Philippine Army 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division ang pagkakakilanlan ng pito sa walong Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) na napaslang sa naganap na twin encounters sa Barangay San Isidro, Las Navas, Northern Samar bago sila binigyan ng marangal na libing.
Ayon sa 8ID, nakipag-ugnayan sila sa local government unit ng Las Navas para ihanda ang mga bangkay sa isasagawang funeral services kasunod ng cultural and legal protocols at paggalang sa dignidad ng tao.
Ang pitong napatay na miyembro ng New People’s Army ay kinilalang sina Richard Jumadiao alyas “Joban”, Communist Leader, Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU) Laysan; alyas “Berbon”, Vice Squad Leader, Independent Squad, Regional Guerilla Unit (RGU); Edgar Baselga alyas “Ali”, Squad Leader, Squad 1; Marciano Pecayo alyas “Lakay”; Jinky Senobio alyas “Sinag”, kasapi ng Squad 1; alyas “Desoy”; at alyas “Rico”, pawang kasapi ng RGU sa ilalim ng Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC).
Nilinaw ni 8ID at Joint Task Force Storm Commander Major General Adonis Ariel G. Orio, tumatalima ang kanilang hanay sa International Humanitarian Law (IHL) habang nagaganap at hanggang matapos ang engkwentro.
“While these individuals chose to take up arms and engage in acts of terror, we continue to uphold our duty to treat the dead with dignity. We are working closely with the local government units to locate and inform the families of the deceased, ensuring they are properly notified and allowed to claim the remains,” paliwanag ni Maj. Gen. Orio.
“Let this be a turning point. There is still time to return home and start anew. The government is ready to help you,” panawagan ni Maj. Gen. Orio sa nalalabing NPA ngayong idineklara na ng pamahalaan na “Zero NPA Guerilla Front” na sa lahat ng rehiyon sa bansa.
