TINATRABAHO na ng Pilipinas para lutasin ang isyu ng West Philippine Sea (WPS) para simulan ang bagong energy exploration projects bago pa magsimulang maubusan ng suplay ang Malampaya gas.

“We are still at a deadlock right now. It is in a conflict area. So, that’s another thing that we have to try and resolve to see what role any countries play,” ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa isang panayam nang tanungin ukol sa kasalukuyang isyu sa maritime region at Malampaya gas field.

“It’s still of course the position of the Philippines that this is not in a conflict area. This is very clearly within our EEZ [exclusive economic zone]… within our baselines, within the maritime territory, the Philippines,” ayon sa Punong Ehekutibo.

Tinuran pa nito na tatlong taon nang nakikipagnegosasyon ang Pilipinas, subalit inamin na maliit lamang ang progreso na nagagawa kaugnay sa naturang pag-uusap.

Winika pa nito na ang suplay ng liquified natural gas (LNG) ay nagiging mas mahalaga sa Pilipinas partikular na sa transisyon nito sa renewable energy.
