NASA kustodiya na ng Bureau of Customs ang 28 luxury vehicles na inuugnay sa mag-asawang government contractor na sina Sarah at Curlee Discaya.

Ayon sa ulat na Aduana, sinisimulan na nilang busisiin ang mga dokumento ng mga mamahaling sa sasakyan matapos na isurender ng pamilya Discaya ang umano’y 16 pang nalalabing sasakyan na target ng BOC.

Ito ay matapos na ma-recover sa bisa ng search warrant na inilabas ng Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 18, ang naunang 12 sasakyan kasunod ng inspeksyon sa St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor & Development Corp. compound sa Pasig City nitong nakalipas na Martes.

Kabilang sa isinukong mga mamahaling sasakyan ang Mercedes Benz GLE, Land Rover Range Rover LWB, Land Rover Defender, Cadillac Escalade ESV, Ford Bronco, Mercedes Benz GLS 350, BMW X5 30d, Jaguar F-Pace 2.0D, Porsche Cayenne V6, Volvo XC90, Mercedes Benz Avant, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes Benz Sprinter, ATV Quicksand, GMC Yukon Denali, at ATV Gray.

Ang 28 luxury vehicles ay sinelyuhan at 24-oras na binabantayan ng mga ahente ng BOC at Philippine Coast Guard.

Ayon kay Custom Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, mahalagang hakbang ang naging pasya ng mga Discaya na isurender ang mga sasakyan dahil makatutulong ito sa isinasagawang imbestigasyon sa Discaya-owned luxury vehicles, na may kaugnayan sa Senate Blue Ribbon Committee inquiry hinggil sa maanomalyang flood control projects.

“This latest development will greatly assist us in verifying the importation records of these vehicles. We will assure the public that we will thoroughly check on compliance and documentation of these vehicles. If violations are found, we will ensure that appropriate penalties are imposed in accordance with the law,” sabi pa ni Commissioner Nepomuceno.

Nakikipag-ugnayan na ang BOC sa Land Transportation Office para matiyak na mabubusisi nang husto ang importation records na sumasaklaw sa 28 imported vehicles.

Sabi pa ni Nepomuceno, “In the event that any discrepancies or violations are determined, the BOC shall undertake all required enforcement and legal actions in line with the provisions of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
