BINUHUSAN ng Kongreso ng halos P80 bilyong subsidy ang Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) sa susunod na taon.

“The money is for the insurance coverage of millions of so-called indirect contributors, including indigent citizens, the elderly and unemployed persons with disability,” ani Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor.

Ayon sa mambabatas, may kabuuang P79,990,995,000 ang subsidy na ibinigay sa PhilHealth na nakapaloob sa P5.024 Trillion national budget sa susunod na taon na inaprubahn ng Kongreso noong December 15.

Mas mataas ito ng P8.368 billion mula sa P71.353-billion subsidy ngayong 2021 na karagdagan aniya sa P100 billion na nakolekta ng PhilHealth sa mga manggagawa sa pribado at pampublikong sektor.

Nananatiling problema ng PhilHealth ang pagbabayad sa mga pribadong pagamutan na nagtulak sa ilan sa mga ito partikular sa lalawigan ng Iloilo na pansamantalang hindi tatanggapin ang health insurer card.

“Health facilities are part of the universal health care program. If they separate themselves from PhilHealth, they may not be able to serve poor patients who are covered by state insurance,” anang mambabatas.

Dahil dito, umapela si Defensor sa PhilHealth  na bayaran ang lahat ng legitimate claims sa susunod na taon habang binabantayan ang mga kwestiyonableng claims upang hindi maapektuhan ang mahihirap.

“This has been a recurring problem. The two sides should agree on a common solution that protects the interests of honest health facilities and medical practitioners, on one hand, and taxpayers and Philhealth members, on the other,” pahayag ng mambabatas. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
