BILANG bahagi ng whole-of-city approach para makabuo at mapanatili ang kinabukasan para sa lahat, ang Quezon City Government ay nakipag-partner sa C40 Cities and Minecraft Education para ilunsad ang isang Minecraft Education Challenge for QC-based schools and students kamakailan.

    Ang QC Minecraft Challenge ay pinasimulan ng QC Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD) bilang bahagi ng Schools Reinventing Cities program.

    Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan sa pagitan ng C40’s Reinventing Cities and Minecraft Education.

Ang programa ay magbibigay sa mga estudyante ng oportunidad para idisenyo ang mga solusyon sa klima para sa kanilang siyudad sa Minecraft Education, isang game-based learning platform, at para ipresenta ang kanilang mga idea sa mga pinuno ng lungsod.

“Through this challenge, we hope to empower our youth by mining their valuable ideas for the development of our city. We will continue to foster our student’s creativity and critical thinking and engage them in our environmental efforts as we head towards our vision of building a livable, sustainable, and climate-resilient city,” ani Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Schools Reinventing Cities offers a unique, engaging opportunity for young people around the world to learn about science-based city climate actions. Sharing their best and boldest ideas with their teachers, school mates and policy makers, students can help reinvent their city. C40 Cities is thrilled to work with Minecraft Education and Mayor Belmonte to bring the competition to Quezon City. I’m really looking forward to seeing students’ ideas to increase urban biodiversity, promote sustainable mobility and improve public health.”

Gamit ang Minecraft Education, ang piling mga estudyante sa kanilang mga paaralan ay bumuo ng solusyon para makatulong na muling isipin, muling i-configure at muling pasiglahin ang mga kalsada ng lungsod.

    Kaugnay nito, ang teams ay magde-design at gagawa ng climate actions feasible para sa Quezon City, tulad ng pagpapalawak ng ‘green spaces and the green corridor network; enhancing sustainable mobility; and improving air quality’.

Ang mga estudyante ay may oportunidad para gumawa ng paraan na makapagbabago at magpapahusay sa urban biodiversity, promote sustainable mobility, at pagbutihin ang public health saan mang mga kalye: White Plains Avenue, Agham Road, at Belfast Avenue.

    Ang Quezon City public at private schools ay maaaring mag-register at sumali sa hamon hanggang Mayo 29, 2023.

    Ang mga paaralan ay dapat may nabuong grupo ng tatlo para sa anim na mga miyembro na may parehong grade level categories kasama ang Grades 4-6, Junior High School, at Senior High School.

    Para sa mga paaralan na sasama sa nasabing mga hamon, isang guro na magsisilbi bilang School Minecraft Education moderator, ang dapat magrehistro sa team.

    Ang awtorisadong Minecraft Education moderator lamang ang maaaring pumuno sa participation registration form para sa hamon sa kanilang mga estudyante.

    Pagkatapos ng downloading sa Minecraft Education, ang mga estudyante ay makaka-access sa Schools Reinventing Quezon City Minecraft World na kung saan ang special Non-player characters (NPC) ay naghihintay sa kanila.

    Kabilang sa NPCs – ay sina Mayor Belmonte, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, C40 Cities Executive Director Mark Watts, at iba pang city officials at QCitizens mula sa iba’t ibang sectors – na magbibigay ng impormasyon tungkol sa topics sa mga hamon bilang paggalugad sa mundo.

    Ang entries ay isusumite para sa paghusga sa bawat kategorya.

    Limang teams na may pinakamataas ang scores mula sa bawat kategorya ang pipiliin upang personal na ipakita ang kanilang mga output sa City Mayor at iba pang Quezon City officials.  Ang Best Pitch, Most Innovative, at Most Impactful citations ay ibibigay rin sa kanila.

Ang mga mananalo mula sa bawat kategorya ay makatatanggap ng mga papremyo. Ang Overall Team Champion mula sa bawat klasipikasyon ay makatatanggap ng P30,000; Team Champion Moderator ay P15,000; at Team Champion School ay P15,000.

    Iaanunsyo naman ang mga nanalo ng QC Minecraft Challenge sa QC Hall Flag Raising Ceremony sa Hulyo.
