INAPRUBAHAN ng makapangyarihang Commission on Appointments (CA) ang nominasyon nina Atty. George Erwin Garcia bilang chairman ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) at Atty.
“They say if the shoe fits, you should walk in it. Mr. Chair, my esteemed colleagues, it is my firm belief that there is no one more qualified to become the Chairman of the Commission on Elections than the appointee. His professional experience makes him highly qualified for the position. The accolades and awards he has received as a lawyer, an advocate, a civic leader, law professor, and simply as a citizen, speak volumes about what our appointee can contribute to the Commission on Elections as an institution of trust and keeper of the will of the electorate,” ayon kay Villar.
“Therefore, Mr. Chair, my fellow Members of the Commission, it is my great honor and privilege to move for the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of Mr. George Erwin M. Garcia as Chairman, Commission on Elections for a for a term expiring on 02 February 2029, vice Saidamen B. Pangarungan,” giit pa ni Villar sa kanyang sponsorship speech.
(ESTONG REYES)
