SA pagpasok ng buwan ng Setyembre ay magsisimula na ang government-led tourism job fairs para tugunan ang tourism labor shortages sa Pilipinas.

Pormal na tinintahan ng Department of Tourism (DOT) at Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), ang memorandum of understanding (MOU) noong Agosto 30 para sa paglulunsad “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! National Tourism Jobs Fair”.

“Displaced workers are definitely a priority of the Department of Tourism in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment. So what we intend to do is to give tourism job opportunities both to displaced workers, fresh graduates, and those wanting to shift into a career in the tourism industry,” ayon kay Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco.

Base sa pinakabagong data ng DOLE, nasa 12,000 tourism workers ang na-displaced sa mahigit 700 establisimyento dahil sa pandemya sa first half ng taong kasalukuyan.

Habang bumabawi ang sektor, ilang negosyante ang nagmamadali na punan ang puwang sa usapin ng job vacancies sinabi ni Frasco “matter of linking the demand with the supply.”

“This Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso is specifically designed to link the demand with the supply and so we anticipate that a number of employers would join this and a lot of applicants would participate,” aniya pa rin.

“As of August 27,” tinatayang 279 establisimyento ang sinurvey ng DOT, ang iniulat na 1,186 regular vacancies at 240 part-time jobs.

Ang multi-month campaign ay ilulunsad sa Hotels Supplier Show sa SMX Convention Center sa Mall of Asia Complex sa Pasay City mula September 22 hanggang 24.

“It will conclude in May 2023, with the two other venues to be held in SM City Cebu and SM Lanang in Davao City,” ayon sa ulat.

Ang MOU ay nilagdaan nina Frasco at Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, at sinaksihan ni Tourism Undersecretary Ferdinand Jumapao at Labor Undersecretary Paul Vincent Añover sa Conrad Hotel. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
