BINUWELTAHAN ng netizens ang tugon ni Senador Manny Pacquiao sa sulat ng barangay chairman ng Dasmarinas Village, Makati City na pinagbabawalan ang kanyang pamilya na lumabas dahil sa kanyang pagkaka-exposed sa taong may COVID-19.

Para sa netizens, arogante at ‘power trip’ ang dating ng sulat ng senador sa punong barangay ng Dasma Village na si Rossana Hwang.

Nagbigay ng kanya-kanyang opinyon ang netizens sa Twitter at marami sa mga ito ang hindi pabor sa balak ng senador na paimbestigahan ang pagkalat sa social media ng sulat na ipinadala sa kanya ni Hwang.

Anila, masyadong maraming problema ngayon ang bansa para pagtuunan ng pansin ni Pacquiao ang pagpapa-imbestiga sa sulat na kung tutuusin anila ay mas nararapat na unahin niyang ipasiyasat ang mga paglabag ng kapwa senador na si Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III sa home quarantine protocol.

Sa kanyang liham na Ibinahagi sa media, sinabi ni Pacquiao na kanyang ipinagtataka kung bakit kumalat ang liham ni Hwang sa social media na hindi man lang siya tinawagan upang alamin ang katotohanan sa naging viral picture nila ni Pimentel.

Kaugnay nito, isang liham din mula sa mga residente ng Dasma ang nais nilang iparating kay Sen. Pacquiao: Dear Mr. Pacquiao, Acknowledging receipt of your letter (which we all know you did not compose) dated March 28, 2020.

At this point, arguing over whether the March 4, 2020 event at your residence was a party or a political meeting is a waste of time. At the end of the day, as a Senator of this Republic, prudence (assuming you have it) would have dictated your taking additional measures to practice social distancing.

In addition, we more than welcome your initiative (which sounded eerily like a veiled threat) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the dissemination of an apparently private letter addressed to you, even if it is of PUBLIC SIGNIFICANCE that people be made to know matters that may also affect their health & well being. As a public figure & official, I’m certain you should have even the slightest understanding of this.

For our part, if it’s not too much to ask, we would like to request the same person who composed your reply to properly advise you on an even more important matter.

It is our fervent hope that, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, you exhibit the same or even greater degree of enthusiasm, vigor, dedication and seeming thirst for justice in investigating, prosecuting & ousting a fellow Senator and partymate, Mr. Pimentel, who recklessly and wantonly endangered the lives of our frontliners.
