LALO pang paiigtingin ng Pilipinas at Australia ang bilateral cooperation sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa, maging ang resulta ng katatapos lamang na ASEAN Summit.

Napag-usapan ito sa phone conversation nina Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte at Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“President Duterte also noted the growing ties between the Philippines and Australia, stressing that the Philippines looks forward to the adoption of a Plan of Action to further implement the Joint Declaration of the Philippines-Australia Comprehensive Partnership,” ayon kay Chief Presidential Protocol and Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Usec. Robert Borje.

Aniya, nagpahayag din ng interes ang Australia na paigtingin ang kooperasyon nito sa ASEAN community partikular sa usapin ng maritime security, counter terrorism, cybersecurity at pag-counter ng marine plastic debris na siya ring mga prayoridad na usapin ng Pilipinas.

Sa kabilang dako, ginamit din ng Chief Executive ang pagkakataon para pasalamatan ang Australia sa tulong nito sa mga nabiktima ng bagyong Rolly at Ulysses, at maging sa suporta nito sa Arbitral Award na naipanalo ng Pilipinas sa usapin sa South China Sea.
