MISTULANG nagkakaroon ng militarisasyon sa Department of Education (DepEd) dahil tinatambakan ni Vice President Sara Duterte ng retired generals ang pinamumunuang ahensya.

Ayon kay ACT party-list Rep. France Castro, hindi lamang sa mga key position sa gobyerno ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., may mga retired general kundi maging sa DepEd.

Kabilang dito sina Ret. Maj. Gen. Nolasco Mempin at Ret. Brig. Gen. Noel Baluyan, na mga bagong Undersecretary and Assistant Secretary for Administration sa DepEd, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“Putting hawkish generals in key positions in the Department of Education is alarming. It shows the government’s intention to militarize the education sector, which is supposed to be a safe space for our children to learn and grow,” pahayag ni Castro.

Nabatid sa mambabatas na si Mempin ay dating Commander ng 10th IB Division ng Philippine Army sa Davao habang si Baluyan ay dating assistant division commander ng 3rd IB.

“Ano ba ang planong gawin ng mga military generals sa DepEd? Dapat ang inaappoint sa DepEd ay yung mga may knowledge, experience, education and competence sa education sector lalo pa at may hinaharap tayong education crisis,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.

Mistulang ginagaya na rin umano ni Marcos si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na tinambakan ng retired generals ang burukrasya kaya lalong hindi nakamit ang kapayapaan sa bansa.

Kasunod ito ng reappointment ni Ret. Gen. Carlito Galvez bilang Peace Adviser ni Marcos.

“It is clear that the Marcos Jr. administration does not want peace based on justice and addressing the cause of the armed conflict. Instead, they are militarizing the bureaucracy and imposing their militarist mindset on the people,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
