ANIM na dahilan ang inilatag kung bakit umano dapat kailangang madaliin ng impeachment court ang paglilitis sa mga impeachable official, tulad ni Vice President Sara Duterte na in-impeach ng Kamara nitong nakaraang taon.

“The first reason is to prevent further harm. If an official is abusing their power, breaking the law, or acting against the public interest, allowing them to remain in office could lead to greater damage,” ayon kay House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan na kabilang sa 11 itinalagang mga House prosecutor.

Pangalawa aniyang dahilan ay kailangang ipakita sa lahat ng mga impeachable official na walang sinuman ang mas mataas sa batas na umiiral sa ating bansa kaya dapat aniyang malitis ang mga ito sa lalong madaling panahon kapag na-impeach na sa Kamara.

“The third reason is to maintain public trust. Delays in impeachment proceedings can erode confidence in government institutions and create the perception that justice is not being served,” sabi pa ng mambabatas.

Hanggang ngayon ay mistulang pinaninindigan ng Senado ang kanilang unang desisyon na pagkatapos na lamang ng susunod na state of the nation address (SoNA) ni Pangulong Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. sisimulan ang proseso ng impeachment.

“The fourth reason is to preserve institutional integrity. If an official is unfit for office, their continued stay can weaken the legitimacy of the institution they serve,” ikinatuwiran ni Libanan kaya kailangang masimulan agad ang paglilitis.

Ikalimang dahilan aniya ay upang maiwasan na may makikialam o pakikialaman ng sinuman ang impeachment process.

“The longer an impeachable official stays in power, the greater the risk of obstruction—whether through intimidation of witnesses, manipulation of the system, or other means to evade accountability,” anang kongresista.

Pinakahuli aniya ay upang mabalaan ang mga impeachable officials na may planong labagin ang mga batas na umiiral sa bansa.

“Taking swift action sends a strong message that wrongdoing will not be tolerated and will be met with decisive consequences,” konklusyon ng mambabatas.
