ARESTADO ang claimant ng shipment na naglalaman ng P3.160 milyong halaga ng shabu sa operasyon ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni District Collector Atty. Ricardo Uy Morales II, CESE, sa tulong ng Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF), at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) sa Makati City kamakailan.

Nadiskubre ng BOC ang illegal drugs sa pamamagitan ng profiling na isinagawa ng customs personnel sa isang shipment na idineklara bilang “two slice bread toaster” mula Pennsylvania, USA.

Ang nasabing shipment ay naging pakay ng x-ray scanning na kung saan nakitaan ng kahina-hinalang imahe.

Ang K9 sniffing ay isinagawa ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) K9 Unit na nagbigay ng positibong indikasyon sa presensya ng dangerous drugs.

Dahil dito, agad na nagsagawa ng physical examination ang nakatalagang customs examiner na naging daan ng pagkakadiskubre sa apat na pouches ng puting crystalline substances na may timbang na 458 grams na inilagay sa loob ng dalawang (2) “Dear Morning” bread toaster.

Isang field testing ang isinagawa sa substance ng CAIDTF Clark personnel sa pamamagitan ng Raman Rigaku Spectrometer na nagbigay ng positive reading para sa “methamphetamine”.

Ang samples ay itinurn-over sa PDEA para sa chemical laboratory analysis na nagkumpirma rito bilang methamphetamine hydrochloride o mas kilala bilang “shabu”, isang dangerous drug, sa ilalim ng Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 o ang Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Agad nag-isyu ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention si District Collector Morales laban sa nasabing shipment dahil sa paglabag sa Section 118 (g), 119 (d) and 1113 par. (f), (i), and (l)-(3) and (4) ng Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to R.A. No. 9165.

Noong Hulyo 5, 2023, isang joint elements ng BOC-Clark at PDEA Region III ang nagsagawa ng controlled delivery operation sa address ng consignee sa Makati City na nagresulta sa pagkakaaresto ng isang 29-year old male claimant.

“Through the effort of our personnel and the support of PDEA, we successfully arrested the claimant of this shipment. As we continue to implement stricter measures and amplify our vigilance, expect that various modus operandi of smugglers will not slide under our watch,” pahayag ni District Collector Morales.

“The series of illegal drug apprehensions in Clark is proof that the Bureau of Customs is firm with its mission. Rest assured that we will continuously enhance border security measures and we are doing our best in the frontline to curb smuggling,” ayon kay Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio.
