NAKIISA na rin si Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri sa mga nananawagan sa Bureau of Internal Revenue na bawiin ang kautusan para sa pagpapataw ng dagdag na buwis sa mga educational institution.

Sinabi ni Zubiri na hindi ngayon ang panahon upang parusahan ang mga pribadong paaralan na isa sa mga apektado ng krisis dulot ng Covid19 pandemic.

“Now is not the time to make life difficult for Educational Institutions especially when we’re grappling with our country having one of the worst results in Reading and Comprehension test results for our students,” pahayag ni Zubiri.

Kasabay nito, tiniyak ni Zubiri ang suporta sa panukala ni Senador Juan Edgardo Angara upang mabigyang linaw ang probisyon sa Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act kung saan nagkaroon ng maling interpretasyon ang BIR.

“I am totally against this and will support the bill of Senator Angara that would restore the taxation rate to 10 percent,” dagdag ng senador.
Ipinaalala ng mambabatas na dahil sa krisis at pagpapatupad ng alternatibong sistema sa pag-aaral, maraming estudyante ang nag-dropout o mga hindi nag-enrol na nakaapekto nang husto sa mga pribadong paaralan.

“We hope the BIR restores the rate back to its original percentage and we support the measures in Congress that would keep it intact,”giit pa ng mambabatas. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
