DISMAYADO si Albay Rep. Joey Salceda kay Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Maria Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco dahil imbes na ipaliwanag kung bakit wala ang Mayon volcano sa logo ng DOT ay pinatatahimik ito gayung “love” ang tema ng turismo sa Pilipinas at hindi “hate”.

” I am more disappointed in the response that I should not bring this issue up because, anyway, Mayon is included in the 50 major volcanoes and mountains represented (by a pixel!) in the official tourism logo and slogan,” ani Salceda.

Bago ito, ipinaabot ni Salceda ang himutok sa DOT sa pamamagitan ng Tweet na: “Dear Sec Frasco,-why Mayon in DOT Love the Philippines. And the whale shark most likely in Oslob, Cebu, so no Bicol, no love for Bicol. Thank you na lang. Albay tourism will thrive without you. LOVE ALBAY!”

Sinagot ito ng kampo ni Frasco partikular na ng kanyang mister na si Cebu Rep. Duke Frasco na kasama ang Mayon sa 50 bundok at bulkan sa Pilipinas at sinabing “Lets Celebrate, not hate!”

“Mayon deserve better than a pixel in the logo where you need strained eyes to see it. Mayon has been a National symbol and National treasure. No Sec Frasco, all your predecessors in DOT-Mayon deserved a better treatment. You failed Albay,” sagot ni Salceda.

Mistulang ipinamukha pa ng mambabatas kay Frasco na matapos ang COVID-19 pandemic ay mas maraming turista ang pumunta sa Bicol kumpara sa Central Visayas region na kinabibilangan ng Cebu kung saan nanggaling si Frasco.

Si Salceda ay chairman ng House committee on appropriation na siyang nag-aapruba sa budget ng lahat ng ahensya ng gobyerno kasama na ang DOT.
