PABOR si Senador Cynthia Villar sa pagpapaluwag ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) tungo sa general community quarantine (GCQ) sa ilang lugar sa Metro Manila na may mababang kaso ng corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pagkatapos ng Mayo 15.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Villar na dapat ikonsidera ng Metro Manila Council at Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) ang pagbawi sa ECQ ng mga lugar na kilalang may mababa at moderate risk lang ang kaso ng COVID-19.

“I agree that we should start re-opening the economy and begin the implementation of new normal measures in Metro Manila areas that have been successful in keeping their COVID-19 cases under control,” ayon kay Villar.

Idinagdag pa ng senador na habang humahaba ang ECQ, lalong naaapektuhan nito ang sitwasyon ng ekonomiya at hanapbuhay sa bansa at nagdudulot ng pagdurusa sa mga manggagawa at kanilang pamilya.

“We all know that the government cannot provide assistance to everybody affected by this public health emergency. We should now start re-opening the economy with health protocols such as the use of face masks and the practice of social distancing strictly implemented,” ani Villar

Matatandaang inirekomenda ni Villar ang pagbabalik  sa hanapbuhay ng mga manggagawa na nasa labor-intensive sectors tulad ng construction, manufacturing at agriculture.

Ayon sa datos nitong May 8, 2020, ang mga lugar sa Metro Manila na may mababang kaso ng COVID-19 per 100,000 population: Caloocan (14.5), Navotas (14.9), Malabon (15), Valenzuela (17.1), Marikina (28.1), Las Pinas (32.6), Muntinlupa (32.9), Taguig (33.2), at Pateros (33.8)

“By now, places where COVID-19 cases are concentrated are already identified by the local government. Strict quarantine measures will continue to be implemented here while quarantine measures can be eased in low-risk areas,” Ayon pa kay Villar.

Dagdag pa ng Nacionalista Party senator, “the prospect for the reopening of the economy and easing of quarantine measures is bright now that we have big quarantine facilities and improved testing capacities.” ESTONG REYES
