MULING nagpahayag ng kanilang kumpiyansa sa Pilipinas bilang investment hub sa Southeast Asia ang ilang European companies.

Sa press briefing sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual na ang European companies ay positibo nang talakayin niya ang iba’t ibang business opportunities sa bansa sa isinagawang three-week European investment roadshow.

Sa ulat, binisita ni Pascual ang France, United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands at Germany para sa three-week European investment roadshow ng DTI.

“I kept on emphasizing, you want our labor, you might as well set up your factory here so that our workers will not have to leave the country, but do their work here for your companies and serve your export market, as well as cater to the Philippine domestic market for those that are producing consumer goods,” ayon kay Pascual.

“They are seeing the light, and it will mean also lower cost of operation. Because if you bring a Filipino worker, Filipino engineer, for example, to Germany, they will have to pay a Filipino engineer salary almost equivalent to what they are paying a German engineer. Whereas here, with the lower cost of living here, the wages can be lower,” dagdag na wika ng Kalihim. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
