MAHIGIT 150 para-athletes ang sasabak sa Philippine Sports Commission’s Pilipinas Para Games Online Chess Competition na magsisimula sa Nobyembre 19.
“We are launching this project in our effort to continue to address our need for a truly comprehensive grassroots sports development program for our para-athletes, and continuously harness their full potential,” sabi ni PSC Oversight Commissioner for para-athletes Arnold Agustin.
Isasagawa sa tatlong regional legs ang naturang online chess competition na may anim na kategorya para sa Visually Impaired B1 Completely Blind Men, Visually Impaired B1 Completely Blind Women, Visually Impaired B2 Partially Blind Men, Visually Impaired B2 Partially Blind Women, at Physically Impaired Men at Physically Impaired Women.
Ang PPG ay isasagawa sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Paralympic Committee at Integrated Philippine Association of Optometrists para sa classification ng mga nagparehistong para-athletes.
Ang kompetisyon ay magsisimula sa Nobyembre 19 via Zoom at gaganapin sa ganap na alas-8 ng umaga hanggang alas-5 ng hapon. Matatapos ang online tourney sa Nob. 21.
Ang magwawagi ay tatanggap ng medalya, certificates of excellence, at cash incentives.

TATLONG chess Grandmasters ang tutulong sa national para-coaches at technical officials sa PPG Online Chess Competition.
Ang tatlo – GMs Eugene Torre, Jayson Gonzales at Thomas Luther – kasama sina IA/IO Casto Abundo at IA/NM James Infiesto ang magsisilbing resource speakers sa mas mauunang Para-Chess Online Technical Workshop.
“In a pandemic, we are focusing on chess as it appears to be one of the best solutions for our para-athletes to get themselves going again in sports,” paliwanag ni PSC Oversight Commissioner for para-athletes Arnold Agustin.
