PINAPAPATAY ni Pangulong Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte kay Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Rey Leonardo “Jagger” Guerrero ang mga opisyal sa customs na sangkot sa pagpasok ng ilegal na droga.

“I told him straight, [drugs are] still flowing inside the country, in customs…, ‘Didn’t he ask for guns?’ I said, ‘I approved the purchase of firearms and until now, you have not killed even a single person?’ I told him, ‘Shape up,'” banggit ni Duterte kay Guerrero.

“I told him, ‘Drugs are still coming in. I want you to kill. I will back you up. You won’t go to jail.

As long as it’s illegal drugs, shoot them, kill them.’ That’s the deal,” patuloy na utos ni Duterte kay Guerrero.

Diretsahang iniutos ng pangulo sa hepe ng BOC nitong Lunes ang pagpatay sa mga opisyal na sangkot sa ilegal na droga makaraang makarating kay Duterte na walang tigil pa rin ang pagpasok ng mga bawal na gamot sa bansa na dumadaan sa ‘teritoryo’ ng BOC.

Ang utos ng pangulo ay hiwalay pa sa direktiba niyang pagbalasa sa mga opisyal ng BOC bilang bahagi ng pagsugpo ng administrasyong Duterte sa katiwalian at korapsyon sa ahensiya.

Muling binanggit ni Duterte ang pagtanggal sa chief of staff ni Guerrero na si Teodoro Jumamil dahil sa garapalang korapsyon nito.

Ipinunto niya na ang pagtanggal kay Jumamil ay bahagi ng pagsugpo ng talamak na korapsyon sa BOC.

Nangako naman si Guerrero na reresolbahan niya ang ilegal na droga sa pamamagitan ng pakikipag-ugnayan sa Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at Philippine National Police – Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-PDEG).

“We heed the President’s instructions and we will double our efforts as we continue to work closely with the PDEA and PDEG in our anti-illegal drug campaign,” pahayag ni Guerrero sa mga reporter.

“Our intensified campaign against all forms of smuggling has resulted in the confiscation and seizure of not only illegal drugs, but also other contraband that passed through our ports,” paliwanag ni Guerrero.

Ngunit, nang tanungin siya ng isang mamamahayag ukol sa utos ni Duterte na patayin ang mga taga-BOC na sangkot sa ilegal na droga ay ganito ang sagot ni Guerrero: “The BOC is committed and fully supports the President in his fight against illegal drugs.” (NELSON S. BADILLA)
